FAQs

Check in and Check out Times?  Check in is from 4pm, with check out by midday on a Sunday, or 10am on any other day of the week.  If you want to arrive earlier or leave later, please just ask to book an extra night.  The Orangery will be open for you until 5pm to pop in any decor items, with the tables & chairs set in your requested layout ready for you.  Please ensure that any suppliers deliver between 4-5pm on the day of your arrival.  Our Team are happy to help with any finishing touches on the day of the wedding, just chat to your wedding co-ordinator to make a plan for the day.

How do I save my dates?

Just get in touch! We are happy to put a provisional booking into the diary for you which gives you 7 days to have a good chat and get in touch with those really important friends and family members to check that they can attend.

How do I book?

Orangery Weddings – A deposit of £1250 is required, with 2 further payments 12 and 6 months prior to the wedding.

Elopement Weddings – A deposit of 33% is required, with the balance due 30 days prior to your arrival.

Why do you insist that we have Wedding Insurance?

You never know what’s round the corner! We want to be sure that you have everything covered, from a storm preventing you getting to us in winter, to any of your suppliers being unable to attend, for whatever reason.

Do you provide a wedding co-ordinator?

Yes, we provide an on the day wedding co-ordinator for all Orangery Weddings from 10am to close.  Our Team will be on hand for your Elopement from 10am to 5pm. All our team are happy to help with planning your wedding and making your day a special one, holding your hand through the process of making things work brilliantly for you here at AH, and we can help make suggestions for external suppliers for you get in touch with directly too.

What food is included?

Elopement Weddings – Make your own Breakfasts x 2, Picnic Box, Grazing Boxes and BBQ Hut Wedding Feast are all provided for you, just bring any snacks you can’t live without and your drinks.

Orangery Weddings – Food is not included in your package. We can recommend fantastic suppliers for everything from a coffee cart, to a full 10 course tasting menu, and everything in between.  The joy of Alexander House is that you choose your style of food, within your budget, not the one we set for you!

Are drinks included?

Drinks are not included. Orangery Weddings – Our fabulous bar provider will be on hand with either a pay or prepaid bar, with options for a tuktuk, pony trailer bar, and inside bar.  The choices are yours!  Elopements, please BYO and we’ll provide the ice bucket!

Do we need to organise our own Celebrant?

Yes, legally we can’t do this for you.  We can provide recommendations and our local Perth & Crieff registry offices have just lovely staff too, who can come to Alexander House for your wedding. Remember that you need approximately 6 weeks for all the paperwork to be processed.

Can my guests book accommodation directly with you?

Yes, we have a special couples accommodation area where you can allocate bedrooms and pricing to bedrooms, and your guests can pay for their rooms directly, which saves the embarrassment of having to ask for them to transfer you money!  Any payments taken through the couples booking area, are simply deducted from your final balance.

Do you have an accessible bedroom on site?

There is a downstairs room that can be set up as a comfortable single or a games room as required, with the downstairs shower room just across the corridor. This bedroom is not fully accessible, but is very comfortable for those who have mobility issues and cannot use the stairs. The whole of the downstairs of Alexander House, and The Orangery, are wheelchair accessible.

What accommodation is included in my package?

Your package will detail the accommodation included and room layouts can be found for Orangery Packages here. Elopement Weddings with dogs and children can be in Juniper, or The Annexe, adults only in Bramble and Heather.

Why do you have noise limitations and time limitations, you’re in the middle of the countryside?

Weddings require planning permission, and these stipulations form part of the requirements of our planning permission. Any questions please ask your wedding planner.

Can we use the swimming pool and hot tub?

Exclusive Use Weddings – The house pool and hot tubs are not available on the day of the wedding, for the obvious safety reasons, however your guests are welcome to use these between 9am and 9pm for the rest of your stay.  The indoor hot tub can be used 24/7.

For Elopements & Vow Renewals – Each unit has its own wood fired private hot tub which you are welcome to use at any time.  When booking the Annexe for an Elopement or Vow Renewal, the pool and courtyard hot tub are available for you to use during your stay, between 9am and 9pm.

Where can my guests who aren’t staying on site stay?

If you need extra rooms or for your additional guests, there is lots of local accommodation options for all budgets and styles, from lovely AirBnBs, Caravan Park Accommodation to 5* Gleneagles Hotel, all within a 3 mile radius.  Duchally Resort is nearest, at just 1.5miles away.

For your Campervans & Motorhomes (no tents or caravans) – we can provide camper van parking, with power and water (no Elsan point, you must dispose of black waste offsite) for a small overnight charge.

Is there parking?

Yes, there is parking onsite for your wedding guests, and house guests.

Do you have an Electric Car Charging Point?

Absolutely. There are 2 x Char.gy 6.9kw chargers on the wall of The Orangery, opposite the main house. You are welcome to plug in here. You will need the Char.gy app which you can download for both Apple and Android.

Can you suggest taxi/minivan services for our guests staying locally?

Yes, you’ll find details on our Suppliers List  Please, please ensure that you, and your guests book well in advance, as there is a scarcity of Taxis in our area!

Decor Items?  In line with our green ethos, we have a selection of items for you to borrow – perfect for your ‘something borrowed’ – with options for Arches, Candelabras/Vases, etc.  You’ll find these bookable in your Manage My Booking area once you’ve booked your wedding package.  Have a chat about what we have at your show round or ask your Wedding Co-ordinator for a list.  Any items booked will be in The Orangery ready and waiting for you on your arrival.

Where do we hold our Ceremony and our Reception?

Your Ceremony can be held on the front lawns, outside on the Orangery patio or indoors in The Orangery.

What tables do you include in the Orangery?

We include round tables or trestle tables, or a mixture of both, with cross back chairs.  These will be ready in your chosen layout for your arrival, for you to add any decor, and finishing touches.  Any items you’ve requested to borrow will also be on the tables ready for you.

Who provides the Drinks in the Orangery?

Our bar partner will provide either a pay or prepaid bar, the choice is yours!  They also have a fabulous tuktuk, pony trailer bar and can do a wonderful selection of cocktails too.  The easy way to have your drinks organised!

Where do we hold our Ceremony and our Reception?

Your Ceremony can be held on the deck at Willow, in the woods by Juniper (if you have booked Juniper), or for bad/colder weather you’ll have the back up option of our gorgeous Orangery. We provide cross back chairs for your choice of location, and our staff will be your witnesses if required.

Where is the Wedding meal?

The BBQ Hut seats up to 4 comfortably, 6 at a squish. Outdoor seating is also available at Willow.

Who provides the Drinks and Food?

Alexander House will provide you breakfast packs (enough for 2 days), a stunning grazing box for your arrival supper, picnic lunch for whilst you’re getting ready, and your Wedding Feast ready for you to cook on the open fire in Willow. Please remember to bring any snacks and your drinks.
