OK, so, in-house catering, or choose your own….?
Well…. Here at AH, everyone in the Team has a different idea of the perfect meal, and we know that every couple has their own favourites, after all – one man’s feast, is another’s famine, so after quite a lot of trial (and error!), so we definitely think that it’s best to choose your own!
We’ve collated some recommendations for you, but we also say you’re welcome to choose your own, after all, this is your wedding, and what you want & like, should be at the top of the list!
Choices, Choices, Choices!
Firstly – Timings……. How do you see your day working? The traditional day? Or timings that work for you?
A traditional day would be starting with hair and makeup arriving at about 8am (earlier if you’ve a large bridal party), with the ceremony between 1-2pm, photos, your wedding meal about 5pm, and then dancing, with evening food approx. 9-10pm. Carriages at Midnight.
A late ceremony say 5-6pm, especially in Scottish Summer, when the light is spectacular at that time of day, means that you could have a later meal, or the Pizza Van, and a really chilled out party vibe for the evening, and you’ll not need evening food either. And then hair and make up can start at a reasonable hour too…. instead of the 7am start on your wedding day, why not have a lovely lie in til 10?! And a later ceremony means that you could go for a midweek wedding and have your guests join you after a half day at work, or even a full day at work.
The choice really is yours, don’t follow the crowd, do what works for you!
Secondly – what food do you actually really want at your wedding?
So here’s a list of questions/options for you to have a think about to get you started, but remember, the sky really is the limit! If you want Fish N Chips for your Wedding Tea, then you shall have Fish n Chips for your wedding tea!
We suggest that each of you, as a couple, (not the whole bridal party!) fills it in separately, then you reconvene to look at the options. You may surprise yourselves as to which options you feel work best for your wedding, and this way you’ve both had equal input too!
So, let us forget about the drinks, we have sorted those out for you already (after all, a drink is a drink, and there’s a great pay bar option for all tastes!) and get down to concentrating on food, glorious food!

Honestly, that’s just made us hungry! And if it were up to each one of the AH Team, I think we’d all have a different wedding meal…. Personally, I’m on for the Airstream Pizza van, and in fact, we may have to have an AH party just so we can hire it in for ourselves 😊

Now, it’s time to have a think about budget. You’ve given you a few of the options for your wedding food wishlist, now it’s time to think about the budget.
And if your budget doesn’t stretch to the numbers of guests you’d like the style of catering for, then be ruthless – ask that question – would you spend that amount on money out on a friend at a restaurant, if not, should they be at the wedding meal, or perhaps just invite them for the evening after the meal?
So our advice to you is to do your own thing, make your choices that suit your wedding style, and budget, and don’t let anyone tell you differently, after all, you are the ones paying this very expensive restaurant bill, not your guests!
With love, and rumbling tummies, as always, The AH Team
